Although the Azienda Agricola Caven is a relatively young winery (founded in the 1980s), it has always characterised its production by focusing on the native grape varieties of the Valtellina region.
The company's philosophy, in fact, has always been to make the territorial character of its wines a "cornerstone", whilst presenting them in a more modern style in terms of ageing.
Furthermore, the connection with the territory is reinforced by the estate’s own vineyards, which are located in the historic production areas of Valtellina Superiore DOCG wines. This bond is further strengthened by the fact that the locality of ‘Caven’, from which the company takes its name, is situated in the municipality of Teglio (SO). The site holds particular historical significance due to the discovery of stelae engraved with pictograms of the ancient Camuna civilisation. These were found years ago in the same area where some of the estate’s vineyards are now located.
