VARIETY
OF WINES ::
Nebbiolo (sin. Chiavennasca)
This is the variety which has distinguished
Valtellinese wine-growing and wine-producing
history and which still today characterises
the entire production of wine in the
Valtellina. It is retained to be optimally
suited to terraced lands at the base of the
Rhaetic foothills. It was already cultivated
during the XVI century and because of this
is considered to be original stock.
Precocious germination and late maturing (IV
epoch), vigorous, needful of radical pruning.
Slightly sensitive to botyris rot and blight,
more susceptible to oidium. Average weight
of the bunch 260/280 g. The clones are
selected in Valtellina by the Fojanini
Foundation (clones 21 – 34 – 12).
